This 2000 student, 9th through 12th grade, 277,500 SF
facility is located on a 65-acre site in a high growth area of
the City of Virginia Beach. Amenities include two identical
Academic Wings housing Classrooms, an 1800 seat Gymnasium, Media
Center, Cafeteria and a 650 seat Auditorium. The entrance is
immediately adjacent to the Administration, Guidance and Health
Services offices. The centrally located Media Center is the focal
point of the facility.
Each of the two-story Academic Wings are designed with standard
classrooms located around the exterior perimeter with a central
core space housing faculty workrooms, mechanical/electrical
spaces and public restrooms. The entire Science Department as
well as elective subjects such as Art, Technology Education and
Home Economics are centrally located between the two wings for
easy access from each wing.
The Performing Arts complex is comprised of a state-of-the-art
auditorium complete with orchestra pit, Sound and Lighting
Control Booths and a Stage House, which includes Dressing Rooms
and a Prop Building Room. Directly adjacent to the Stage House are
Band and Chorus Rooms, Music Appreciation Classroom, Drama
Classroom and a Black Box Theatre.
The Physical Education complex consists of a three court
Gymnasium, Auxiliary Gymnasium and separate rooms for Gymnastics,
Weight Training, Wrestling and a Physical Education Training
Classroom. Separate male and female locker and shower facilities
are provided for both Physical Education and Athletic Training.
Outdoor Athletic Facilities include Baseball, Softball, 400 meter
track, two practice fields and a 5,000-seat competition
Football/Soccer Stadium with a Press Box. A detached Field House
is also included.
