    Oliver Hill Building, Capitol Square Complex, Richmond, Virginia

    This project involved full architectural and engineering services for the Restoration, Renovation and Addition to the existing building, formerly known as the Finance Building, which is located adjacent to the Governor's Mansion and State Capitol Building on historic Capitol Square. The historic character of the existing building was restored and an additional 50,000 square feet was added.

    Loudoun County Sheriff's Substation, Loudoun County, Virginia

    Ballou Justice Upton designed this new 18,000 square foot Sheriff sub-station located in Eastern Loudoun County. It is a single story facility designed to permit future expansion. The facility operates 24 hours - 7 days a week. Public spaces include the lobby, restrooms and community room. The Sheriff's administrative space is located within the secure area and consists of office space for Sheriff's Captain and Lieutenant, other administrative staff, conference room, criminal investigations section, a records section, deputy workrooms and storage areas. Special use areas within the secure area include a classroom, exercise room, locker rooms, and prisoner processing & holding cells. Additionally, a secure sallyport for prisoner loading/unloading is included and accommodates several cars concurrently.

    Virginia State Police Maintenance Garage, Richmond, Virginia

    This project involved the construction of a new 15,425 square foot garage facility. The facility is a one-story, pre-engineered metal type facility with 14 foot clear ceiling height and a sloped roof system. The facility has 11 work bay areas along with office area for the manager, clerk, foreman, locker room area, break room and restrooms. It also has a small secure area for parts.

    This project achieved LEED Silver certification.

     

     

     

    Richmond Police Training Academy, Richmond, Virginia

    This award winning facility is a three-story, 62,000 square foot Police Training Academy and 30,000 square foot parking garage. The building provides classrooms and training facilities for the City of Richmond Police Cadets and In-Service Officers. It is also used for periodic conferences on law enforcement and other high profile city meetings. The city wanted an enduring, dynamic building that would honor the police and install a sense of pride in public service.
