    Ballou Justice Upton Architects is currently working on various projects throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. The following projects are current projects either in design phases or construction.

     

    Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, Fairfax County, Virginia

    For Three Consecutive Years TJHSST was Rated the Number One High School in the Nation.

    Ballou Justice Upton is currently providing architectural and engineering services for the renewal/renovation of 265,000 square feet and an 80,000 square foot addition to Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, located in Fairfax County, Virginia.

    TJHSST is a Virginia Academic-Year Governor's School that provides an innovative environment for highly motivated students who have a genuine interest in biological, physical, mathematical, technological and computer sciences.

    Virginia School for the Deaf,Blind and Multi-Disabled Campus-Wide Renovations and New Construction, Staunton, Virginia

    Ballou Justice Upton (Architect of Record), in association with EYP, is currently working on this project which includes the planning and design for the New Construction and Renovations at the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind Campus in Staunton, Virginia. Through collaboration between the Owner and the Design Team, an ongoing process was designed to identify program needs and place them in appropriate existing or new space, to include: Administrative Services; New Educational and Instructional Facilities; Student and Parent Support Services; Professional Development & Outreach Services; Library Media Services; Technology Services; Health & Clinical Services; Student Center; Athletic Fields/ Playground; Maintenance/Grounds & Housekeeping Services; Security Services; and Parking & Pedestrian Circulation. Additionally, a new Dormitory for Deaf Students and new Dormitory for Blind Students were designed and constructed.

     

     

    Western State Hospital, Staunton, Virginia

    Ballou Justice Upton (Architect of Record), in association with Cannon Design, is currently working on the replacement facility for Western State Hospital. The facility will be a two-story, 338,900 square foot building including 244 patient beds with support staff areas. Patient activity areas include a gymnasium, classrooms and game room. Clinical treatment spaces and facility support areas include a full kitchen, laundry and maintenance/wash bay.

    The intent of the design of this facility is to provide a safe, secure, sustainable and pleasant place to live and work. An increase in appropriate socialization, especially outdoors along with campus security has been planned.

    Essex County High School, Essex County, Virginia

    Ballou Justice Upton is currently in the Design Phase for the major renewal of the existing facility and an addition of new academic and support spaces for the high school. The new addition includes a Fine Arts Performing Center, seating 800 people with new Commons and Dining Facility.
