Special studies and designs included Accreditation Evaluation, Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Center, new Employee and Patient Parking facility, Roofing Evaluation, Asbestos Identification and Abatement, Study Hall renovations, Outpatient Service Center, new HVAC and the upgrade of the Life Safety Systems.

Southside Regional Medical Center

Our firm provided all design and engineering to construct a new addition to the Hospital to house the MRI Center. Also included in this project was the design of a new Chiller Plant to include a microprocessor based Energy Monitoring and Management System (initially localized, but expandable for future application to the entire facility), an Emergency Power Plan and Engineering Offices. The project also involved removing a house on the Medical Center’s property, Tunnel Connection, Parking Lot design and landscaping.

Veterans Affairs Medical Center Renovations
Hampton, Virginia
Our firm provided a complete renovation of the third and fourth floor east wings of the Main Hospital, Building 110. The project includes 14 new TB Isolation rooms (seven isolation rooms per floor), with Anterooms and private baths. In addition, new Private Rooms each with bath facilities were included. The remaining area on each floor is used to create a Waiting/Lounge area, Communications Center, Offices, and storage spaces. An Observation Ward and separate Nurses’ Stations were also provided. HVAC design includes all new equipment with controls that allows rooms to be switched on or off for negative air.
Westminster-Cantebury House

Full Architectural and Engineering Services were provided for this Retirement and Nursing Home which includes eight stories, 384 Apartments and a 15-bed Nursing Wing.
Ridgewood
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Conceptual design was provided for this project estimated at $50 million which includes 160-units of Independent Elderly Housing, 180-units of Assisted Living, 48 Memory Impaired Living Units and 120-units of Skilled Care (Nursing Home). A central element in the facility is a 40,000 SF Recreation Administration Center.

Full Architectural and Engineering services were provided for this Retirement and Nursing Home which includes a six-story addition of which one floor is devoted entirely to Nursing Care.
Marian Manor
Virginia Beach, Virginia
Full Architectural and Engineering Services were provided for this 120-unit Assisted Living Center and 15-unit Skilled Nursing Home. Marian Manor is a three-story facility. The ground floor houses common amenities such as Congregate Dining, Library and Living Areas. The units consist of single and double units designed for medium to low income residents.
The Russell House
Virginia Beach, Virginia
This is a project sponsored by the Richmond Diocese and funded by HUD under a 221-3D program. The three-story building includes 60 one- and two-bedroom units, and studio units. The "H" shaped building includes a lushly landscaped courtyard for passive use of residents. Each unit has its own kitchen.

Conceptual design for a Twin Town concept Assisted Living Facility was provided which links the Pavilion with common amenities. Each building is four stories and contains 40 units.
Primrose Place
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
This project involved Continuing Care Retirement Center conceptual design. The project is a phased development which included Independent Living as a second phase. The combined three and four-story buildings are designed in the style of a South Carolina plantation. This facility has 120 one and two Bedroom Units and Studio Units.
St. Mary’s Infant Home
Norfolk, Virginia
This project involves the design of a 60-bed facility for Severely Profoundly Handicapped Children from birth to 21. This facility was the first phase of a master planned replacement of the facility. This one-story facility was designed for the future expansion of a second floor.
