Ballou Justice Upton Architects is currently providing full Architectural and Engineering services for this project involving an addition of a three-story Assisted Living Facility comprised of 49 Apartments, a Computer Room, Multi-Purpose Room, Exercise Room, Wellness Center, Library, Senior Day Care Center, and a Dining Room equipped with a Warming Kitchen. The main addition includes a one-story Assisted Living Facility for the Memory Impaired. Functions provided in this Memory Impaired Facility include 18 Living Units, a Dining Room, Activities/Commons Area, Living Room, Laundry Room and a complete Nurses’ Station.

Additions to the existing home include the Main Entrance, a Gift Shop, Deli, Chapel, an expanded central Laundry, Kitchen Storage, Staff Lounge and Outdoor Areas. All areas of the Memory Impaired Unit are secured. Services also include a complete renovation of the adjacent 18-year-old Nursing Home to include the remodeling of each Nurses’ Station, a new Dining Area in the Alzheimer’s Unit, Registration and Consultation Rooms in the Clinic, a Staff Development Classroom, Storage Area, and additional spaces in the Business Office, Human Resources, and Finance Departments.

Chesapeake General Hospital
Cedar Manor

Ballou Justice Upton Architects is currently providing full Master Planning and Architectural and Engineering services for Cedar Manor involving a new 60-unit Assisted Living Facility with a 12-unit Alzheimer’s Wing.

This is the first phase of a large project that will include Duplex Units for Independent Living and a Nursing Facility. The interior and exterior is designed to provide "Aging in a Place with Dignity." The facility is designed to resemble a Georgian Manor house. Individual units include single rooms, one-bedroom units and dual units for a couple or two people to share.

Community Memorial Healthcenter
South Hill, Virginia

Ballou Justice Upton Architects provided a full range of design services to upgrade and expand the Healthcenter. The Facility Master Plan converted the Intensive Care Unit into a Skilled Nursing Facility. The complete study was for Dining Room Expansion, a Cold Storage Facility and Freezer. Renovations included the Skilled Nursing Area, Admission Area and the Pharmacy/Main Level of Community Memorial Healthcenter. The addition projects our firm has completed include additions to the Emergency Room Wing, Education Wing, Materials Management Warehouse, and Patient Wing. Emergency Room Wing Addition includes new entrance for patients and ambulance area, modern reception area with waiting area, triage, pharmacy, and a central nurses' station with 14 treatment areas plus a decontamination room. Doctor and staff areas and an inmate holding area were also included. Education Wing Addition includes new accessible entry with beautiful new lobby area, hospital training auditorium, training, meeting, and dining spaces, library, and new toilet facilities. Addition designed for both hospital and community use.

Materials Management Addition includes materials management warehouse, expansion kitchen area facility, receiving dock and hazardous waste disposal area, and new office spaces for material management staff. Patient Wing Addition with patient wing on second floor and cardiac rehab area on first level. Patient wing includes nurse station and semi-private patient rooms, each with connected toilet room. Cardiac rehab area of 3306 S.F. also includes men/women toilet and locker facilities.
